SkyFire has been one of the more popular browsers on the Android, and now the iPhone has the same amazing browser, and it did very well. That is of course until SkyFire announced that they sold out of a digital application. You probably are asking yourself how someone can sell out of a digital product. And this is the answer. It isn’t the product that they sold out of it’s the licenses for the product.
But that isn’t really important right now. As SkyFire says they should be getting a lot more license keys “sometime soon” (don’t you love the decisiveness of that *sarcasm*).
So how does the product work? I don’t know, I didn’t buy it in time. But if I take some time a gleam information off of other websites and a TechnoBuffalo video, I can say with great confidence that SkyFire’s iPhone version of their browser is an incredible product. It has one very large advantage over every other browser out there… Flash. That’s right the SkyFire’s browser will play Flash. How? It sends the video information to SkyFire’s server to be reasonably quickly converted into an HTML 5 video.
It makes me incredibly happy that Apple would be awesome enough to approve this app. Granted, it took Apple much longer than normal to do so.
The only downside of this app is that it isn’t free. But really that’s not that big of a downside. The only reason that I think it should be free is that almost all browsers are free. In one day it made the number one top grossing app.
Hopefully you’ll get a chance to check it out sometime soon.
What do you think? Do you think that Flash is relevant enough to spend the $3 SkyFire costs? Tell us in the comments below. Oh and be sure to Tweet and Like this post (and all other posts).
