Updated: Samsung Galaxy SII coming to the US

Today, AT&T announced that it would be releasing its 4G LTE network to the US on September 18th; however, the interesting fact here is, that this is the same day that the Samsung Galaxy SII (2) is supposed to be released. There has been no word yet, on whether or not GS2 will support the LTE network. But, the fact that Samsung opted not release the phone onto Verizon’s LTE network, says something interesting. Most likely, we won’t see (or hear) anything until September 18th rolls around. However, until then we could revel in the epicosity (not a word, I know) of a AT&T 4G LTE, 1.2Ghz Dual Core, 1GB of RAM, 4.3″ Super AMOLED enabled phone.

In other interesting Samsung news, Apple has won the name of “thinnest smartphone” by the ASA’s (Advertising Standards Authority’s) ruling. The enquiry was actually started by Samsung, who claimed that the GS2 was “sexier” than the iPhone 4, because it sports a 8.71mm chassis at its thinnest point; however, the GS2 “bulges” at the bottom of the device (measuring in at 9.91mm). Apple’s iPhone 4, however, sports a 9.33mm chassis throughout. Personally, I find the slight bulge on the Samsung a feature, as it does not allow the phone to slip from one’s hand.

Currently there is no comment from Samsung. I will be attempting to receive comment from AT&T as well.

Update: Samsung’s PR rep responded by saying that the GS2 will be running on AT&T’s HSPA+ network, this does not, however, mean that there will be no LTE version coming out.

What do you think? Tell us in the comments section below.

P.S. Long time no post, I apologize; however, I promise some interesting posts soon.
