The Nissan Leaf has been in the sites of many green-minded people for quite some time now. But there have been some very large concerns. One of which was battery life. The question; was how long it would last. Well today that question has been answered. 116.6 miles is how long you can drive in a Nissan Leaf.
Now this isn’t the best test to rely on, because the battery life really varies depending on how the car is driven. For example; if you take it up a fifty mile hill with 4 people inside, and with the air conditioning turned up all the way. You might get a completely different range. Like 45 miles.
This isn’t bad considering most electric cars today don’t get nearly that type of range. The only other car that got this type of range was the Tesla Roadster coming in at about 120 miles/charge. But the Tesla is about $100,000 more. So I don’t think it’s worth the extra 4 MPC (miles per charge).
If this sounds like something you’re interested in it will be coming to the US this December, and will be hitting the UK in March of 2011. It will sell for about $33,000.
