iOS 4.3 hints at 1 megapixel rear-facing camera

At this point we practically know for a fact that the next iPad 2 will have a camera or two. What we don’t know for a fact is how many megapixels the cameras will have. Up until now we thought that the rear-facing camera would have 5-8 megapixels. It appears we were wrong. A new report by 9-5 Mac claims that the rear-facing camera will be a meager 1 megapixel.

Whether or not this rumor is true, has yet to be seen. It seems slightly unlikely that Apple would settle for such a low quality camera. My guess is that the came ran on the front will be 1 megapixel, and the camera on the rear will be a 5 megapixel camera. Considering how much room Apple has to work with, I don’t see any reason why they would do anything different.

Hopefully we won’t have to wait to much longer to find out. The astrological signs have told me that there is a chance that Apple will announce the iPad 2 as early as February 9th. The report is currently unverified, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen.
