How to: Get a better deal on web hosting

Not Refrigerators!

Almost everyone, at some point or another, has considered purchasing and maintaining a website. The first step is normally purchasing a domain name, the next step is purchasing a web host. The latter can cost quite a bit (upwards of $100, to $150 per year). Personally, I have had around ten different web hosts. I started with a small, free host that allowed one to use a personal domain. It worked, for awhile; however,  I then started getting a larger audience, which slowed the website down considerably. I then switched to several different “premium” hosts, all of which had one thing in common (there was more then one): a secret discount.

Once you decide the host you prefer, continue to the checkout for a hosting service, here it will show you the final price for the ordered service. When you’re at this screen hit the back button, don’t buy it! When you do this, a pop-up will most likely appear, this will be the discount. For me, it was about a 10% discount, or $30. Hosts will do pretty much anything to get a customer, even lower the price.
