Automatic updates now available for iPhone and iPad users

It appears that the automatic update functionality talked about in today’s keynote… is here. Now don’t get too excited it isn’t all of iOS 5′s features, and it’s not all of iCloud’s features, it’s just automatic updates for apps on your iDevices. If you look at your Settings app, and scroll down to Store, you’ll wait for a seconds whilst the new settings are updated, and then you’ll turn on auto-updates for the various stores on your device, and you’ll be ready to rock auto-updates before iOS 5 is released.

As a side-note, it appears that you need to be on an iOS greater of equal to iOS 4.3 (if you don’t have that OS yet it’ll be iOS 4.3.3). Another side-note, is that once you authorize auto-updates on a iTunes account, you can’t authorize auto-updates to another iTunes account on the same device… does that make sense? Leave a comment if  it does or doesn’t.

What do you think? Any guess’ on the specific date of release for iOS 5? Tell us in the comments section below!
